The race began at 11:00, marked by a cannon blast from the Šibenik city guard, yet the yachts initially barely moved in the calm, relying solely on sea and river currents. Despite their best efforts, Arta Vela couldn’t reach the finish line this time.
Conditions remained challenging until a gentle southerly breeze finally filled the harbor. Taking full advantage, the Milenium 40, Sayonora 057, crew from JK Uskok secured the top spot, overtaking Mataran 32 during the second upwind leg. Seven additional boats finished with slight delays, while 13 never made it to the end.
The Šibenik Regata once again demonstrated how dramatically changing weather conditions can shape the outcome of a race, while underscoring the thrill of sailing and the enduring allure of Šibenik’s harbor.
