Fast track Day Skipper is for beginners without experience but would like to complete the RYA Day Skipper course in short period of time. By the end of course you should be able to skipper a yacht on a short passage, during daytime, along the coast in familiar waters and in good weather conditions. Certificate after successful completion of the course – RYA Day Skipper Practical and RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC) for VHF radio. With these certificates you can charter a boat.This course includes: two practical courses – Competent Crew and Day Skipper, two online theory courses – Day Skipper and VHF/DSC; organization of the exam.
RYA Day Skipper Fast Track Course – program for the beginners who wants to experience two-weeks sailing adrenaline – as we like to say: From Zero to Hero! It’s also for those who have already tried sailing but would like to become active members of the crew and the “head” of the crew – Skipper! Besides that, it’s for those who want to learn sailing by the internationally accepted British Royal Yachting Association’s program and after the course get an internationally accepted certificate after the course.

From the first day of the Day Skipper Fast Track Course you will be the crew and without you a yacht won’t be able to set sails. Also, you will spent first five days of the course aboard of a sailing yacht. You will learn about all aspects of life on a boat – from safety, sleeping, responsible use of water and electricity, storing and preparation of food, to showering.
Besides learning why and how a sailing yacht sails and lots of practice so it all sits well you will learn how to helm, handle sails and ropes. Also to tie knots and the yacht as well as how to anchor. You will also learn basics rules of the road and how weather affects sailing. You will learn how to make a lasso for catching cleats and buoys, what to do in case of person in water situation and how to use rubber dinghy.
In the next 5 days of your practical course you will learn about responsibilities of a skipper and effective communication with the crew. These days are very hands on and most of the course you will be in the role of skipper. Besides sailing, you will have to take care about all the other aspects of life aboard. You will handle the food, water, electricity, fuel, engine and sails as well as safety procedures.
After instructors’ explanation and demonstration you will take the helm. You will sail out of a berth, dock, anchor, catch a buoy, helm. You’ll learn how to manoeuvre in close quarters as well as in the person in water situation. You will be responsible for the safety of the crew and the boat as well as for navigation. You’ll need to follow the weather forecast, keep a good lookout. You will experience a night sail too.
You will learn in practice how to plan a cruise and use nautical charts. How to prepare and execute a passage plan, to sail in channels. Also how to lead a ships’ log and how to determine you position with hand bearing compass and use of GPS. Besides that you will improve your knowledge on weather and how it’s affecting on sailing. You will learn where to find a weather forecast. How to read it as well as how the tides affect sailing.
RYA Day Skipper Fast course is focused on bringing your skills to a higher level. And on practical applying of already existing theory knowledge. Also, in order for you to be able to follow the syllabus of the course your previous theory knowledge has to be on the level of successfully completed RYA Day Skipper theory course .
As a part of the Day Skipper Fast Track Course you will get very illustrative handbook. It will help you to master the syllabus of the course. Every morning the course starts with theory lesson. After that we sail till lunch break. Refreshed, we sail till docking for the night in the late afternoon.
After you successfully finish the course and after positive evaluation of your progress you will get internationally accepted RYA Day Skipper certificate. That confirms that you have successfully covered all parts of the RYA Day Skipper syllabus. You will also get a RYA Logbook as a confirmation of your miles sailed, acquired skills and knowledge.
If you commercially endorse your RYA Day Skipper certificate you can even find an engagement with it internationally, with respect to limitations.

Sailing gloves, two pairs of non-slip shoes or sneakers, T-shirts and long sleeve shirts, short and long pants, strong sunscreen, a cap or a hat, sunglasses, towels, personal hygiene items, bathing suit, towels, mosquito repellent. If you are sailing during colder months, please bring your sailing suit, or a warm, waterproof jacket, pants (and a sleeping bag if you prefer).
Please remember to bring personal medications if required.
