Category B – Preparation For the License Exam in Croatia
A person who holds a license “Boat skipper Category B” is authorized to operate boats and yachts and fishing boats up to 30 GT for personal use, boats for transportation of passengers and cargo up to 3 NM from mainland or islands.
In this course you will obtain all necessary knowledge needed to access an exam.
A person over the age of 16 has the right to apply for an examination to obtain the category B license. A person with that license can handle boats and yachts up to 30 GT for personal needs. A person holding a certificate of qualification for a Category B pilot vessel until he reaches the age of 18 shall not operate boats with the power of a propulsion device of more than 15 kW. Depending on the category of navigation on which the boat is registered, a person with a Category B permit may not depart more than 3 nautical miles from the coast of the mainland or the island.
Although the law does not require preparation for the exam, theoretical training is strongly recommended.

Navigation is a fundamental skill needed to safely manage a sailing boat. anyone intending to sail should be well-acquainted with the basics of navigation. The aim of the navigation is solving two main problems: determining your position and determining the course towards the desired destination.
